Antique
JEWELED 1930s Mirror & Brush Vanity Set in very
nice condition. Made of fancy brass filagree with applied
glass jewels. The mirror glass and the brush bristles
are in excellent shape and the set has see little or
no use. The pieces measure as follows:mirror - 14 x
4.5 brush - 11 x 3.5 x 1.5. These are hard to find this
nice!!

POND'S Loose Powder Box Peach 'Dreamflower'
This
is a lovely little Pond's loose powder box measuring approx.
7cm across. The powder inside is unused, and is still
covered with the original plastic (although a little of
the powder is escaping through a small hole!).The powder
box is decorated in a pretty pink, gold and white floral
pattern on the lid, which also reads 'POND'S Peach'. The
side of the box is striped in pink and white.The base
of the box is a littly grubby, and has a mark where the
price label has been removed. The base reads 'Pond's Dreamflower
Face Powder', and 'Peach' with the company information
in the border around the edge.
This is a very pretty and collectable item. ID=powder2

French
Victorian Powder Puff
This
is an old french Powder Puff. It is marked "BREVETE
PLI S.G.D.G., MADE IN FRANCE." It unscrews on the
top and bottom, and comes apart as shown in the pictures.
It appears to be bakelite, or celluloid, and measures
approx. 3-1/2" long x 3/4" across. It smells
like perfume may have been in it at one time. The "puff"
inside feels like a very very soft cotton, and when
you push the cylinder up the "puff?" pops
out. It does seem like there may have been a victorian
scene around it at one time, but some of the black has
worn off. It is definitely victorian in style, and probably
from the late 1800's-1920's. This is an estate piece,

This volume, along with volume
one, is the source for compacts. There are tons of color
photos of everything from compacts and vanities to plies,
powder boxes, rouge compacts, and advertising. Mueller
gives fine intros to each of her topics, educating the
reader on the makers, the different styles, and where
to focus your collecting if you don't have big bucks.
Mueller also doesn't jack up the prices to astronomical
heights like Gerson's book--prices are reasonable and
acceptable for easy- and hard-to find compacts. The book
is well organized, and I'd be hard-pressed to see how
to do this one better.

Ayeristocrat Face Powder - Sealed
Ayeristrcrat
Face Powder by Harriet Hubbard Ayer. The box is the 3.58
ounce size and the shade is Ayer Rose. There is a small
puncture on the inner seal which has been resealed and
is not noticeable or leaking. The outer lid is in very
good condition with only minor fading from age. The bottom
of the box is a gold foil overlay and there is a small
rubbed spot where a price tag looks to have been removed.
The original price is printed on the bottom of the box
and is $1.00--this will help in determining age. There
is a price written in grease pencil of 39 cents and it
can be removed. Also, the product information on the bottom
of the box is affixed to it by sticker and it is still
in place and in excellent condition. ID=Powder10

condition box of Mary King Face Powder by Watkins Products
that is unopened, sealed and still in its original cardboard
outer carton. The shade is Rose Rachel and it is the2.5
ounce size. The powder box measures 3" in diameter
and is in absolute mint condition. The outer carton is
a bit faded from age and a couple of the edges have some
rubbing but still excellent condition for the age. This
is an excellent addition to a face powder collection.
